As a therapist and career counselor in Scottdale (Decatur), GA, with an additional office location in Duluth, GA, I work with clients in the Metro Atlanta area, but also throughout all of Georgia using HIPAA-compliant, secure online sessions. I have more than 15 years of experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I see my work as supporting clients to find fulfillment in their personal life and career.
As a therapist, I help clients to manage anxiety and depression; I help them understand and get through life transitions, difficult relationship issues, grief/loss; I help them to develop coping skills and to improve their overall health.
As a career counselor, I work with clients who may be facing career transitions, new positions, workplace dissatisfaction, or need help finding their passions and direction. They desire to deepen their understanding of themselves and their unique talents. As a career changer myself, many years ago, I understand what it is like to feel unhappy and dissatisfied. Having a counseling background enables me to help you explore deeper issues that might hold you back. My earlier career included 7 years in Human Resources, from which I have been able to apply my knowledge when assisting clients in career transition.
For all clients, I offer a warm and collaborative style to help you explore options, reconnect with your inner self, and work toward your goals. I realize your personal and professional life often impact each other, and with some guidance, you can find courage and direction in times of transition. My style is integrative with a focus on cognitive-behavioral approaches, acceptance & commitment therapy (ACT), positive psychology, and solution-focused therapy. Using an eclectic approach, I try to remain flexible in how we will best work together. I am open to your feedback throughout the process.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia, License #003656. In Georgia, LPC’s are required to complete a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, receive supervised training, and pass the National Counselor Examination before being granted an LPC license. LPC’s are also required to complete Continuing Education hours on an ongoing basis to maintain their license. LPC’s are trained to work with a wide range of psychologically and emotionally based problems.
Having to maintain the LPC credential ensures that I stay current in the counseling field through continuing education, that I maintain a high level of professional accountability, and that I follow a code of professional ethics that helps to protect the client’s rights. I am also a member of the National Career Development Association and the Georgia Career Development Association, and I served on the GCDA board 1998-2000 and 2019-2021, and in the current 2023-2024 year.
